Preschool Programs
This program is geared towards preschoolers ages 3 years - up. Programs vary each month (always occurring the 2nd Saturday) but relate back to art or history and may include a story, art project, craft, song, or tour of a part of the museum. Parents, grandparents and others are invited to stay with their youngster and enjoy time in the museum as well. The program will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude by 11:00 AM – just in time to get home for lunch and nap time after a busy morning! The program is free to members at the family level and above. Preschool Preview Programs 10–11 am the second Saturday of each month. Come learn and have fun with your preschooler while you decorate crafts, learn rhymes, sing and listen to stories together all about the special theme of the day. A light snack is also served. Mother's Day 10-11am May 11, 2013 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Join us at the museum on the day before Mother’s Day to learn about the history of this holiday. We will talk about Mother’s Day’s history, read a story, and make several crafts that will be perfect to take home as a gift for mother.
Patriotic Party 10-11am June 8, 2013 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Wear red, white, and blue to celebrate our Independence Day just around the corner! Through stories, songs and crafts we will learn all about the 4th of July.
Horse & Carriage 10-11am July 13, 2013 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Children and their adult will tour NC’s largest public exhibit of horse drawn carriages and sleighs right here at our Museum! As always we will learn rhymes, read stories and make a craft.
Clay Play 10-11am August 10, 2013 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Using special clay just for toddlers we will learn two very basic pottery shapes. Each child will make at least two projects to take home. Clay will air dry and may be painted later. Stories about art and potters will be read.
