Preschool/Toddler
This program is geared towards preschoolers ages 1-4. Programs vary each month (always occurring the 4th Tuesday) but relate back to art or history and may include a story, art project, craft, song, or tour of a part of the museum. Parents, grandparents and others are invited to stay with their youngster and enjoy time in the museum as well. The program will begin at 10:00 AM and conclude by 11:00 AM – just in time to get home for lunch and nap time after a busy morning! The program is free to members at the family level and above. Terrific Toddler Tuesday Programs 10–11 am the fourth Tuesday of each month except November and December Come learn and have fun with your preschooler while you decorate crafts, learn rhymes, sing and listen to stories together all about the special theme of the day. A light snack is also served. This program is geared towards preschoolers ages 1-4. Holidays at the Hotel 10-11am December 13, 2011 (second Tuesday!) $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Victorians had a special flair for decorating during the holidays. Through stories, songs and crafts we will explore all the fun. The Museum’s natural pine tree will be decorated with Victorian ornaments and is the perfect backdrop for your child’s photo! Bring your camera for your toddler’s picture in front of the tree!
Groundhog’s Shadow! 10-11am January 24, 2012 Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge).
African Traditions & Folklore 10-11am February 28, 2012 Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Come celebrate Black History Month by learning African traditions and folklore. An Ashanti folktale about Anansi the Spider will be read. The children will make their own Anansi the Spider, sing songs and hear traditional African music.
Eggs! Eggs! Eggs! 10-11am March 27, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Easter is just around the corner so come learn all about decorative eggs. The children will explore eggs from the museum’s Edith Poston Egg Collection and make their own decorative eggs. Egg games will be played and we will sing egg songs.
Little Artist 10-11am April 24, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge).
Bring your little artist to the museum and experience hands-on art activities. We will read a story about art and sing some songs. The children will wear a colorful apron and paint with various toddler friendly paints.
Teddy Bears Come Out To Play 10-11am May 22, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Bring your teddy bear out to enjoy the museum and learn the history of the teddy bear. We will also sing songs, hear a bear story and play some games. Making a teddy bear craft will also be part of the morning’s activities.
Patriotic Party 10-11am June 26, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Come to the best Fourth of July birthday party around! Hear a special story, sing patriotic songs and make a red, white and blue flag. Weather permitting we will venture outdoors and blow bubbles, march with our flags and have a special red, white and blue snack!
Cool Cotton 10-11am July 24, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). We will explore the Carolinas Textile Exhibit: The Ties that Bind and learn all about cotton through stories, songs, dance and crafts.
Sculpting Sculptures 10-11am August 28, 2012 $2 per child/free to members Toddlers must be accompanied by an adult (at no charge). Learn all about sculptures and visit the sculpture garden at the Museum. Using various sculpting materials the children will make their very own creations. Stories will all be about lines and shapes in sculptures. |
